Q: Is this for real?

A: Yes, the hospital, cams, live audio, and research team members are all an integral part of an ongoing long term paranormal research project. Investigations are announced and start about 11:00 PM CST.

The cams are live and refresh every 15, 30, or 60 seconds depending on which setting you choose when you make your cam selection.

The default setting is 15 seconds for the fastest refresh rate.

Q: Does anyone ever see anything here?

A: This is the site of the world's longest running paranormal research project. What we do here is look for anomalies -- kinetic, visual, and auditory -- and try to explain what can be explained by natural causes. The rest are considered "unexplained." It is not about chills, thrills, and spills but rather about research. Our chat members and cam watchers post their webcam captures quite often.

Generally they will be posted on our message board HERE

You can also add photos to online albums at many other websites as well.

Photobucket and many other sites offer online albums around the internet.

Q: Anything happening on the cams?

A: When you first enter chat, please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the current conversation.

Read for a little bit and pay attention to what is being said. This can help us all avoid confusion quite often.

Usually you will find out what's been going on pretty quickly about anything sighted recently on the cams.

Generally new sightings will be posted on our message board as well HERE and the Cam Unexplained/Favorites Forum on Message Board are here: HERE

Q: Who are those people on the NightShot cam and what is the NightShot cam? Why isn't it refreshing?

A: The people you see on the cams are the research team members.

The "NightShot" cam is used during the regular Saturday night investigations.

It uses the infrared spectrum of light to produce an image even in total darkness.

When it is turned off after an investigation, the last image taken from it will remain until the next investigation. What you see is the last image broadcasted from the last investigation.

Normally the NightShot cam is placed next to the camera for "Cam 1."

For more information about NightShot and Super NightShot, here is an excerpt from an informational thread posted by Kat on our message board:

Last night a few of us asked Ron about NightShot and Super NightShot and here is what he said:

Ron: Super NightShot takes what little light is available, slows down the aperture, and allows us to see much better -- and I'll show you the difference between Super and Regular NightShot -- the primary thing to know is that while it's really good for you folks to see (Super NightShot is really great -- it takes the IR extender and turns it into something very functional), the bad news is NEVER use super NightShot in investigations, so those of you who do investigations, avoid it like the plague. Movement is exaggerated, again, because the aperture is slowed down. We don't use it on investigations, but we do use it here so you guys can more easily see what's going on.

Here is an example of motion blur on Super NightShot Kat caught later that night; on the left is a tripod leg and on right is an RTM. Example

Q: I want to visit the hospital! Can I?

A: Sorry... but the the answer is no.

The hospital is privately owned and security is in place at all times. Visits are by invitation only and at the team's discretion.

Q: Are you a researcher?

A: Members of the research team will be readily visible in chat.

Their login names are usually a darker shade of blue and they may have “OKCPRG” after their names. Many moderators have also visited the hospital and would be happy to answer your questions.

Q: How old is this hospital?

A: The hospital is over 100 years old.

Q: Did something terrible happen to close the hospital?

A: No. The hospital was abandoned when a new facility was opened to provide more modern medical care.

Q: Was this a mental hospital?

A: No. This was a general purpose hospital.

Q: Are there some reports on the history of this hospital that I can read about?

A: For security reasons, the research team does not post the history of the hospital.

Q: Why do I keep having to log back in to the chatroom?

A: You are probably visiting another page and then returning to chat.

If you visit other sites in a separate browser window, you will stay logged in. If you are using an AOL browser, please use Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari instead. This chatroom does not support the AOL browser.

Q: What does “_____” mean?

A: Please see the frequently used chat terms HERE

Q: How do I make those little smilies in the chatroom?

A: Please see the emoticon list: HERE

Most emoticons are a combination of a colon ( : ) and some keystrokes, but the easiest way to use and learn them is to click them in the chatroom when someone else uses one, and the chatroom will type it for you.

Q: What is the best cam for watching?

A: "Any cam that is up." -- Howard .

A: Opinions and preferences differ from chatter to chatter, watcher to watcher, poster to poster. Watch for a while, see what you prefer, look at previous caps, and you'll discover which one is your favorite.

Q: Do you have any links for places I can find information on paranormal activity?

A: Sure do ! Please check out the links section we have created.

Q: Why are cam 1 and cam 3 all dark?

A: Cams 1, 3 and 4 are in the same general location at this time.

The lights around them will usually be turned off during an investigation because the Night Shot camera is placed next to Cam 1.

When the team is doing an investigation at the hospital Cam 1 basically is replaced by the Night Shot cam.

The lights you see in the cam are EMF meters and arrays that the team uses to monitor activity in the hospital.

Please see THIS for a little more about the Night Shot cam.

Q: Why are my cams not refreshing? or Why are some cams not refreshing?

A: This could be due to many things. The team does take some cams down every once in a while or there may be technical issues (but not very often). Further, as explained above, NightShot cam is only used during investigations. The investigation cam is used only when the team is off-site on investigation or for other times when they deem it prudent to use it.

It could also be a problem with your web browser. You might try re-selecting your cams by scrolling down in your cams frame and clicking "customize view," selecting the cams you want, and then clicking "view cams."
